Power On The Field,
Calm On The Couch
Meet Wick, a striking male Belgian Malinois with exceptional structure, beautiful coloring and a powerful presence. He shares his home with two canine companions and three young children, where he thrives as a beloved member of the family. Wick enjoys long walks with his family and time in the yard playing with his four-legged siblings.
His owner also enjoys continuing his training through sport bitework, where Wick’s natural power and working ability truly shine. Despite his intensity on the field, Wick has the stable temperament and reliable off-switch we value in a family protection dog. Whether he is ready to get to work or relaxing on the couch watching TV with his family, Wick represents the perfect balance of strength, stability and companionship.

Josh S,

Great experience with the training! My dog has become much more obedient, confident, and well-behaved. The trainer is knowledgeable, patient, and really understands dogs. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great companion and protection dog!

What His Story
Tells A Buyer
An Owner Who Enjoys The Handling Job
Our Belgian Malinois page says the breed belongs with one adult who actively wants to handle the dog, because a Malinois’s training is never finished: it is the upkeep the dog runs on. Wick’s owner enjoys continuing his training in sport bitework. That is the household the breed is for.
Intensity Is Cheap, The Couch Is Not
A powerful dog on a bite field is easy to film and easy to sell. What makes a family protection dog is the part after the work, when he has to come back down and settle. Our Malinois page calls that recovery, and it is why we say intensity is cheap and recovery is expensive. Wick works hard in sport bitework, and at home he relaxes on the couch with his family in front of the TV. To judge a dog yourself, our guide to reading a protection dog demo shows what to watch in the thirty seconds after the bite.
Three Young Children, Two Other Dogs
Three young children and two other dogs make a loud, busy house, and a protection dog in it has to be the calmest animal there for most of the day. Before a dog like Wick comes home to small children, read our guide to protection dogs and children on the house rules that keep them safe. Our first 90 days guide covers the weeks after he arrives.
Lucas, Collin County
Lucas is one of the large-lot towns on our Dallas–Fort Worth page, where a gate, a long drive and a longer wait for help matter more than a fence line in a cul-de-sac. Espen, a female Malinois of ours, lives a short drive east in Farmersville. Our Texas dog bite law guide takes the 1974 strict-liability rule and Lillian’s Law from the owner’s side.

Tell Us How Your House Runs
If you want to keep training your dog yourself, the way Wick’s owner does, say so: a dog meant to keep working is a different conversation from a dog meant only to live with you. Tell us about the children and the other animals in the house as well, and how old the children are.
