Walking at Heel With the Decoy Close Behind
A reddish-brown dog on a red leash sits facing a decoy in a bite suit, is walked away by its handler, and keeps to his left leg while the decoy follows close behind and then comes up on the dog’s side.
A dog that has just faced a decoy walks off with its handler while the same decoy follows close behind. Watch where the dog’s head is pointed, and notice that the leash never comes off.
The second half of this clip is the part to watch. For about six seconds the dog sits or crouches facing a decoy in a bite suit who holds a stick near its head, then the handler walks it off. From 0:13 it keeps to his left leg, head mostly up and turned toward him, the red leash hanging in a curve. The decoy follows close behind, mostly hidden by the handler, and from 0:27 walks up on the dog’s side, stick in hand. The dog keeps walking. It is bouncy rather than formal, and leashed throughout, so ask whether it does the same off leash.
