Savannah Bordelon,
Five Stars

This is my dutch shepherd, Tex. Superior Protection Dogs has helped me build him. They are conveniently located in North Texas/Dallas. My goals feel reachable because of this team. They have shipped/imported dogs and have an outstanding resume for the work they do!

What His Story
Tells A Buyer

What Fully Trained Means Here

Tex came to his owner as a fully trained dog, and she writes that we have helped her build him. Our fully trained dogs page says the handover is where the work starts rather than where it stops, and our first 90 days guide sets out, week by week, what living with a finished dog asks of the person who takes it home.

Who Should Own One

Who should own a Dutch Shepherd? Our Dutch Shepherd page answers with a person rather than a household: one adult who wants to handle the dog, sets the rules, does the daily obedience and decides what happens at the front door. His owner’s review talks about building Tex, and about her own goals.

The Coat Is The Part You Notice

Tex’s coat is brindle. Our Dutch Shepherd page calls the coat the difference people notice and the least important one, because most working Dutch Shepherds carry the same engine as a Malinois. What the breed can offer instead is working-line capability with a little more margin for the ordinary mistakes of a busy household, and that page is careful to add that a little more margin is not the same as less dog. If you are choosing between the two breeds, read our Belgian Malinois page alongside it.

Tell Us How Your House Runs

Tell us whether you want a dog that arrives fully trained, as Tex did, and whether you mean to keep training it yourself afterwards. Then tell us who in the house will handle the dog day to day. With a Dutch Shepherd, the dog will work out who that person is in the first weeks whether you choose one or not.
